From time to time, APRU sponsors or organizes research symposiums to provide networking platforms which facilitate knowledge exchange and professional development of APRU researchers. Past symposiums covered topics such as brain and mind, geology and earthquake studies, digital libraries, microgravity and infectious diseases.
Hosted by Seoul National University, the symposium attracted about 40 researchers from various parts of the world. Participants had formed teams and developed research proposals promoting interdisciplinary and comparative research in gerontology. The team with the best proposal was awarded a research grant of US$10,000.
