The APRU Sustainability and Climate Change Program (APRU-SCC) aims to strengthen collaboration among a trans-Pacific set of research universities, focusing on issues posed by climate change. The APRU-SCC evolved from the APRU World Initiative Research Program on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies established in October 2007, which focused on key issues associated with integrated water management systems in major Pacific Rim coastal cities under the stresses of economic volatility, population growth and climate change. The APRU-SCC enables a series of sub-themes and related issues on sustainability to be taken up under a broader, over-arching theme, thus offering the opportunity of wider and stronger engagement among experts and researchers across APRU member universities and the Asia-Pacific community.
