Recent meeting: 1st APRU Education Deans Meeting Hosted by: University of Southern California Date: October 15 - 17, 2008
At the inaugural Education Deans meeting hosted by USC in October 2008, APRU deans of education discussed the importance of addressing the needs of primary and secondary education through graduate programs, interacting with government ministries and departments of education, and quality assurance organizations and building a shared research infrastructure for APRU Education Schools. One key outcome of the meeting was the creation of a steering committee charged with identifying areas of research and program collaboration among members and to find topics to engage deans and select faculty in common pursuit of relevance to APRU members and societies they serve. The committee will establish a three-year timeline to determine how best to benefit APRU as a whole and support its goals.
After meeting in April 2009, the APRU Education Deans steering committee agreed to key commitments in both research and best practices instruction, including raising awareness globally of current education research on teaching and learning and how this research base supports APRU’s goals, and improving the preparation of teachers across international boundaries.
